Lalan Prasad of JD(U) filed a nomination for the 2025 MLC by-election.

Patna January 9, 2025: Lalan Prasad, a seasoned JDU leader and close ally of CM Nitish Kumar, has filed the nomination for the Bihar Legislative Council by-election on Thursday.
He filed his nomination in the presence of top alliance leaders, including CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CMs Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha.
The Seat was vacated following the disqualification of RJD’s former MLC Sunil Singh, a confidant of the Lalu Prasad Yadav family.
The seat has since been allotted to JD(U) within the NDA alliance framework.
Prasad was unanimously chosen by the NDA as its candidate for the by-election on Tuesday. His name was announced by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal during the joint press conference in the JD(U) office.
Lalan Prasad’s Profile:
Lalan Prasad, a native of Sheikhpura district of Bihar, belongs to the Extremely Backward Dhanuk caste, aligning with the NDA’s inclusive political strategy.
His association with CM Nitish Kumar dates back to their student days, and he has been actively involved since the Samata Party’s formation.
Known for his clean image, Prasad has served as a Zila Parishad member thrice.
