Khan Sir and Guru Rahman condemned a lathi charge on the BPSC candidates.

Patna December 26, 2024: Prominent educationists Khan Sir and Guru Rahman have criticized the state government following a lathi charge by the Patna police on Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants who were protesting against normalization on Friday.

Thousands of candidates had gathered at the BPSC office on Bailey Road in Patna to voice their concerns regarding the normalization process. The peaceful demonstration escalated when police restored to a lathi charge to disperse the crowd, leaving many injured and sparking widespread outrage.

In response, the protesters moved to Gardani Bagh and initiated a dharna (sit-in) against the BPSC. Khan Sir and Guru Rahman joined the protest, expressing solidarity with the aspirants and raising their voices against the police action.

Khan Sir’s statement on normalization:

Khan Sir, while addressing the media at Gardani Bagh, strongly opposed the police lathi charge.

“We demand the cancellation of the normalization process and the commission should give an additional preparation time for candidates whose application forms were delayed due to server failure, allowing them to complete the process,” Khan Sir said.

Guru Rahman, another prominent educationist echoed Khan Sir on this issue. He condemned the police action as a sign of “anarchy”.

“Certainly injustice has been done to the students. We demand the BPSC chairman provide a written assurance against the implementation of normalization,” Guru Rahman said.

He also asked the BPSC to reopen the website for candidates who failed to submit their forms due to server failure. “Nearly 80,000 candidates affected by server failures. We demand from the commission for three-month extension of the examination date to allow adequate preparation,” Guru Rahman said.

Khan Sir and Guru Rahman asked BPSC to take corrective measures:

Both educationists have called for immediate corrective measures to address the aspirants’ grievances, emphasizing the need for fairness and transparency in the examination process.

Their involvement has amplified the demands for justice and accountability, reflecting the broader frustration of students across the state.

The preliminary examination for the 70th combined BPSC examination is scheduled on December 13, 2024, in a single shift across 925 centres across Bihar and around 4.80 lakh candidates are appearing in the examination. The admit card was released on the commission’s website on Friday.
