KC Tyagi resigned from the post of national spokesperson of JD (U).
Patna, September 1: KC Tyagi, the national spokesperson of the party has resigned from the post citing personal reasons.
His resignation was also accepted by the JD (U) party leadership.
On Sunday, the party’s National General Secretary, Afaque Ahmed Khan, issued a letter confirming KC Tyagi’s resignation from the post of spokesperson. He also announced the appointment of Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as a national spokesperson of the party. This decision was made following the instructions of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The letter issued by JD (U), stated, “National President of Janata Dal (United), Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, has appointed Rajiv Ranjan Prasad to the post of National Spokesperson. K.C. Tyagi, who was holding this post, has resigned due to personal reasons.”
KC Tyagi, a veteran leader of JD (U) with a long-standing association with the party, has held various positions and is known to be very close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
However, according to sources within JD (U), Tyagi had recently taken an independent stance on many issues, which allegedly caused embarrassment for the party. These issues included quota within quota (SC-ST) reservation after a Supreme Court decision, the Israel-Palestine conflict, where he had aligned with most leaders of the INDIA bloc.

The swift resignation of KC Tyagi followed by the immediate appointment of Rajiv Ranjan Prasad as the new national spokesperson, suggests that the party might have exerted pressure on Tyagi to step down from the post.
