Jitan Ram Manjhi said Niti Aayog denied special status to any state.
Patna July 13: While JD-U leaders demanding special status for Bihar, Union MSME minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Saturday claimed Niti Aayog clearly denied such a demand.
He further said the central government has given assurance of financial assistance to Bihar.
While interacting with the media persons in Hajipur on Saturday, Manjhi said: “The Niti Aayog has clearly denied special status to any state in the country. People of different political parties can do anything but special status will not be given to any state.”
He further said: “Whatever amount of money is needed for development, the central government and PM Narendra Modi will provide it.”
After the formation of the NDA government in the centre, the JD (U) leaders are demanding a special status for Bihar. Leaders like water resource minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Ashok Choudhary and others have demanded the special status for Bihar. It was also a poll issue in the Lok Sabha election.
Leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav and former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar had sharply criticized JD-U for pleading before BJP despite it being part of the NDA government in the centre.
