Patna, September 3, 2025: Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron and Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has demanded 20 seats for his party ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly poll on Wednesday.
“If NDA partners have sympathy for us, our demand will definitely be fulfilled. To give HAM the status of a recognized party, at least 20 seats should be allotted,” Jitan Ram Manjhi said.
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly polls, HAM contested on 7 seats and won 4, but this time Jitan Ram Manjhi has raised his claim to 20 seats—a demand seen as difficult to accommodate.
Besides Jitan Ram Manjhi, LJPRV also flexes muscles:
Adding to the complexity, LJP Ram Vilas MP Arun Bharti has said earlier that his party deserves a respectable share and has demanded more than 43 seats.
BJP’s balancing act.
The BJP, as the leading partner in the NDA, faces the biggest challenge of maintaining a balance among the allies.
A high-level BJP meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah is currently underway in New Delhi. The meeting is being attended by BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Organization General Secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya and senior leader Nagendra Nath.
The five NDA constituents—BJP, JDU, LJP Ram Vilas, HAM and RLM are engaged in intense brainstorming over the distribution of the state’s 243 assembly seats.
Political observers believe September will be crucial for the NDA, as the formal seat distribution is yet to be finalized.
Both the BJP and the JDU are under pressure to accommodate allies without risking internal discontent.
