Patna, November 17, 2025: Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi on Monday reiterated that his party never exerts pressure for ministerial posts and always abides by the decisions of the NDA leadership.
Manjhi clarified that during seat-sharing negotiations, HAM did not demand a ministerial berth but focused solely on MLA seats.
“We only discussed MLA seats during the seat-sharing negotiation. There was some discomfort regarding this, but it was resolved. Now the matter of ministerial positions lies with the party in charge, and I will not comment on it publicly,” Manjhi told reporters in Patna.
Jitan Ram Manjhi claimed his party has not received any official information on a cabinet berth:
Jitan Ram Manjhi said media reports indicating the likely distribution of ministerial berths, including 16 to the BJP, 15 for the JDU, 3 for the LJP(RV), and one each for the HAM and the RLM, had not been officially communicated to him.
“We have heard these things from the media. No official information has been conveyed to us yet,” he said.
Praising the NDA’s landslide victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, Jiran Ram Manjhi credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the massive mandate.
“Women from all sections voted overwhelmingly for the NDA. We were expecting around 160 to 170 seats, but due to the large turnout of women voters, we reached 202. It was a historic victory. Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and Nitish Kumar’s implementation of women-centric welfare schemes made the difference,” he said.
Jitan Ram Manjhi criticized Rahul Gandhi:
Jitan Ram Manjhi also launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he damaged the Grand Alliance’s prospects.
He accused Rahul of making comments that hurt public sentiments, including remarks interpreted as insulting the Prime Minister’s mother. He further claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s statement describing Chhat as drama angered many opposition leaders and weakened the Grand Alliance from within.
HAM’s performance in the election:
Reflecting on HAM’s performance in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Manjhi said the party reinforced its position within the NDA by winning five out of six seats.
He attributed victories in Kuthumba, Atri, Sikandara, Imamganj and Barachatti to strong grassroots connections and strategic campaigning.
“In many constituencies, the contests were very close, but our connection with the people ensured our success,” he added.
