Patna, April 18, 2024: Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday took a sharp dig at CM Nitish Kumar, alleging that he is “staying at home” at a time when election campaigning in the state is at its peak.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav said, “This is the first time in history that a chief minister is sitting at home while the Lok Sabha election campaign is underway in Bihar. Such a thing has never happened before. We cannot say whether he is doing so on his own or if someone has forced him.”
Tejashwi claims close aids of CM misled him during the Grand Alliance government:
He further remarked that although he respected Nitish Kumar and once worked with him “like a son” during the Grand Alliance government, certain individuals in Kumar’s close circle had misled him.
“Two to three people around him are acting for their own vested interests. They are not even allowing genuine ground and administrative reports to reach him,” Yadav alleged.
Opposition asked questions about the CM’s absence from the political rallies:
Opposition parties have repeatedly questioned CM Nitish Kumar’s absence from the campaign trail, particularly after he skipped rallies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gaya and Purnea on April 16.
In Gaya, former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi is contesting on a HAMS ticket as part of the NDA, while in Purnea, sitting MP Santosh Kushwaha is contesting as a JD(U) candidate.
Despite being from his own party, Nitish Kumar did not join Kushwaha’s campaign.
