Barbados June 29: India held the nerves and finally won the ICC T20 World Cup against South Africa in a nail-biting finish in Kingston Oval Barbados on Saturday. South Africa fell 7 runs short of the Indian inning. 

At a time when South Africa was cruising with just 30 runs required in 30 balls and H Klassen was batting on 52 runs of 27 balls, Hardik Pandya took his wicket and changed the direction of the game.

After Hardik, Jasprit Bumrah came in the 18th over and not only took the wicket of Marco Yansen but also not given many runs. The final nail in the coffin was hit by Hardik Pandya who took the wicket of David Millar. The wicket of Millar changed the game. He hit the ball on the long-off but ended up finding Surya Kumar Yadav. He took the catch at the boundary line and people will remember his catch for a long time..

Earlier, India lost three wickets quickly, Virat Kohli came in his old form at a most important stage—the final of the ICC T20 World Cup in Kingston Over Barbados. He not only shipped the Indian inning from a bad situation but also anchored the innings. He scored 76 runs in just 56 deliveries. India won the toss and elected to bat first on a wicket which was looking hard and helpful for the batsmen.

India started the inning well after Virat Kohli hit three fours of Marco Yansen in his first over and Rohit Sharma also hit two fours of Keshav Maharaj in the second over but the skipper finally out on 9 runs when he swept a ball of Keshav Maharaj but failed to put the ball grounded. He was caught at square leg by H Klassen.

After the wicket of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Surya Kumar Yadav also out cheaply.

India lost 3 wickets with 34 runs on the board. Then, Axar Patel was promoted to the batting order and he did not disappoint the Indian team. At that point, Virat Kohli was cautiously batting on one end and Axar Patel relieved the pressure on Virat Kohli. He played a crucial and aggressive knock of 47 runs in 31 deliveries. He actually took the game away from South Africa. Axar was out at the score of 106.

Shivam Dubey came after the wicket of Axar Patel and he also developed an aggressive partnership with Virat Kohli of 57 runs.

Virat Kohli reached the 50 in 48 balls. After reaching 50, Virat Kohli changed his gears and scored 26 runs in the next 8 deliveries.

Shivam Dubey played his part and scored 27 runs in just 16 balls. India scored 176 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.

In reply to the Indian total of 176, South Africa also lost the wicket early in the innings with Reeza Hendricks out for 4 and captain Aiden Markram for 4 as well.

However, Quinton De Kock stayed on the one end and Tristan Stubbs came on the other end. These two scored at a brisk pace and developed a partnership of 58 runs. Tristan Stubbs scored 31 runs in 21 balls. He was bowled by Axar Patel. H Klassen played a tremendous inning under pressure. He took the game away from India at one stage after scoring 24 runs in one over of Axar Patel. He brought South Africa to the stage of win but lost his wicket against Hardik Pandya.

Quinton De Kock 39 runs in 31 balls hitting 4 fours and 1 six.

Tristan Stubbs scored 31 in 21 balls hitting 3 fours and 1 six.
