New Delhi, June 29, 2025: India will take on South Africa in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, on Saturday.

The match begins at 8 pm IST, with the toss scheduled at 7.30 pm IST. Rohit Sharma will lead Indian team, while Aiden Markram will captain South Africa.

Both India and South Africa enter the final unbeaten:

India won 3 matches in the group stage, three in the Super-8 and defeated England in the semi-final.

South Africa also won three matches in the group stage, three in the super-8 and defeated Afghanistan in the semi-final.

Despite India’s strong tournament history, the Men in Blue have not won an ICC trophy for almost a decade.

South Africa, on the other hand, carries the long-struck tag of chokers—faltering historically in knockout matches. Today’s final gives both sides an opportunity to bury old narratives.

Head-to-head encounter between these two teams:

The two teams have played 26 T20 matches so far, and India has won 14 of them and South Africa 11. One match has no result.

In the T20 World Cup, both sides have met 6 times and India won 4 matches in 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2014.

South Africa won twice in 2009 and 2022.

Pitch and conditions at Kensington Oval:

The surface supports both pace and spin bowling. New-ball bowlers get bounce and swing; spinners come into play in the middle overs.

The average 1st inning score here is 153, with the highest being 224 runs, and the successful run chase was 172. A total of 32 T20 international matches have been played at this ground.

The team batting 1st won 19 times, while 11 times won by teams that batted second. There were two matches that had no results.

India also played its first Super-8 match here, scoring 181 and bowling out Afghanistan for 134.

Barbados Met Office has forecast the possibility of rain during the match.

For the Indian squad, Rohit Sharma (C), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dubey, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Jaspreet Bumrah, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav.

The South African team will be led by Aiden Markram (C), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, David Millar, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kasigo Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamshi.
