Patna, July 31, 2025: With just days left for the Independence Day celebrations, Patna district Magistrate Tyagarajan S.M. and senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya Sharma on Thursday conducted a comprehensive inspection of Gandhi Maidan, the venue for the state-level celebration, where Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is scheduled to hoist the national flag on the Independence Day.

As in previous years, the event is expected to witness a grand turnout, and preparations are underway to ensure that it runs seamlessly.

Focus on infrastructure and security for Independence Day:

During the inspection, the District Magistrate reviewed key aspects of the arrangements, including Pandal construction for seating, barricading for crowd control, security deployments, emergency medical services, and traffic and mobility management.

DM Tyagarajan emphasized that all preparations must be completed on time and with absolute precision, adding that no negligence would be tolerated at any level.

Public convenience and entry protocols for the Independence Day celebration:

To ensure comfort for attendees, 10 pandals are being erected for the general public. Separate entry and exit routes are being planned as part of a robust security and crowd management strategy to maintain smooth flow and safety.

A major highlight this year, Independence Day, will be the display of 13 thematic tableaux, which will reflect the cultural, historical, and developmental narrative of Bihar.

These floats will also depict public welfare schemes and departmental achievements of the state government.

“At present, the preparations for 13 tableaux are underway, and these will be participating in the march. However, there is a possibility that one or two more tableaux may be added. We had a detailed meeting with Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit on Wednesday and are following his directives closely,” said DM Tyagarajan.

The district administration has already conducted multiple rounds of coordination meetings with relevant departments and agencies.

The program structure and division of responsibilities have been clearly defined.

Officials stated that the goal this year is to make the Independence Day celebration not just grand and patriotic, but also an exemplary event in terms of organization, discipline, and public participation.
