India reached in the ICC T20 World Cup Semi-final beating Australia by 24 runs
New Delhi June 25: India advanced into the Semi-final of the ICC World T20 match beating Australia by 24 runs in Sent Lucia on Monday.
Australia won the toss and invited India to bat first. India scored 205 runs on the board thanks to the captain’s knock of Rohit Sharma. He scored 92 runs in just 41 deliveries. He hit 8 fours and 8 sixes.
The start of the Indian inning was not good as Virat Kohli was out for a duck. He tried to pull a short-pitch delivery of J Hazlewood and Tim David took the running catch at deep mid-wicket.
Rohit Sharma looked superb on the other end. He hit 4 sixes and 1 four in the second over of Mitchell Starc and collected 29 runs. The wagon wheel of Rohit Sharma was impressive. He played the shots in all corners of the park.
Besides Rohit, Surya Kumar Yadav contributed 31 runs in 16 balls, Shivam Dubey 28 of 22 deliveries and Hardi Pandya finished the Indian inning with lusty blows at the end along with Ravindra Jadeja. Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 27 runs of just 17 runs.
In reply to the India total of 205, Australia lost the early wicket of Devid Warner with just 6 runs on the board. He scored 6 runs hitting 1 four. However, Travis Head carries his form against India in this match too. He scored 76 runs on just 43 deliveries hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes. He along with Mitchell Marsh played well and developed a partnership of 81 runs for the second wicket. Marsh was finally caught splendidly by Axar Patel at the square leg of the bowling of Kuldeep Yadav. Marsh score 37 runs in 28 deliveries.
The dangerous G Maxwell came on the pitch after the dismissal of Marsh. He showed his intention right from the beginning and hit two reverse sweeps of Ravindra Jadeja and got a six and a four. However, he was cleaned bold by Kuldeep Yadav while hitting cross the line toward mid-wicket. He scored 20 runs in 12 deliveries hitting two fours and 1 six.
Other Australian batsmen have not scored as much to reach near the India total. Australia ended up 181 runs in the full quota of 20 overs losing 7 wickets.
For Australia, Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets of 45 runs in 4 overs, Stoinis took 2 wickets of 56 runs and Hazlewood took 1 wicket of just 14 runs.
For India, Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets for 37 runs, Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets of 24 while Jaspreet Bumrah and Axar Patel took a wicket each.
