ICAR-IARI to hold 64th Convocation; Shivraj Singh Chouhan to confer degrees on graduates.

New Delhi, February 12, 2026: A press conference was held on the occasion of the 64th Convocation of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR-IARI), Pusa, where the institute shared details of its academic progress, research achievements, and institutional contributions.

Dr. C.H. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-IARI, informed that Union Minister of Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan will be the Chief Guest at the convocation, scheduled for February 13, 2026, at the Bharat Ratna C. Subrahmanyam Auditorium, ICAR—National Agricultural Science Complex (NASA), New Delhi.

470 students will be awarded degrees at ICAR-IARI’s convocation ceremony:

A total of 470 students will be awarded degrees at the convocation. This includes 180 PhD degrees (70 Women and 110 men) and 290 M.Sc./M.Tech. degrees (126 women and 164 men).

Dr. Rao stated that more than 12,000 alumni of ICAR-IARI are currently contributing to the agricultural sector in India and abroad.

He emphasized that students are encouraged to undertake research focused on enhancing farmers’ productivity and resilience in the face of climate change challenges.

He added that nearly 70 percent of the country’s agricultural scientists are from ICAR institutions, underscoring ICAR’s leadership in agricultural higher education.

Dean Dr. Anupama Singh highlighted that ICAR-IARI emphasizes practical training alongside academics, ensuring students graduate with industry-ready skills. She noted that the institute has an active placement cell and is promoting a startup culture, resulting in significant placements across various government institutions.

ICAR-IARI, a 121-year-old premier agricultural research institute, began its academic programs in 1923. Currently, 3,374 students are enrolled at IARI (Deemed University).

ICAR-IARI institute runs nine regional centres across the country:

ICAR operates 113 institutes nationwide, while IARI has additional institutes in Jharkhand and Assam, strengthening agricultural education in eastern and northeastern India. The institute also runs nine regional centres across the country.

Dr. Rao added that ICAR-IARI holds an A+ accreditation and continues to guide agricultural institutions nationwide through its excellence in research, education, and innovation.
