Patna, October 14, 2025: The Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) on Tuesday announced the names of six candidates for the Bihar Assembly Election 2025, reaffirming its support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but also exposing cracks within the coalition over seat-sharing.

The announcement was made by HAM’s national general secretary Rajesh Kumar Pandey, who declared that the party is fully prepared to support the NDA again.”

According to the list, Deepa Kumari will contest from Imamganj, Anil Kumar from Tikari, Jyoti Devi from Barachatti, Romit Kumar from Atri, Praful Kumar Manjhi from Sikandara, and Lalan Ram from Kutumbha assembly constituencies.

HAM chief announced to contest in two additional seats:

However, internal friction within the NDA has deepened after HAM founder and Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed discontent over the seat-sharing arrangement, particularly over the Makhdumpur and Bodh Gaya constituencies.

These two constituencies have been allotted to Chirag Paswan-led Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Manjhi said, “I don’t know the name of the party, but we will field our candidates from Bodh Gaya and Makhdumpur seats in the Bihar Assembly Election 2025.”

The Makhdumpur seat holds personal significance for Manjhi, as it has long been his political stronghold.

The reallocation of this seat to LJPRV has reportedly caused dissatisfaction within HAM’s ranks.

The BJP released the first list of 71 candidates:

Meanwhile, the BJP has released the first list of 71 candidates on Tuesday afternoon, further underscoring the lack of coordination among NDA partners.

It had been speculated that the Tarapur seat would go to JDU, but the BJP instead fielded Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary from the constituency.

Under the NDA seat-sharing formula, the BJP and JDU are contesting 101 seats each, while the remaining 41 seats have been distributed among allies, including LJPRV will contest on 29 seats, HAM on 6 seats and RLM led by Upendra Kushwaha on 6 seats.

Jitan Ram Manjhi’s remarks are a sign of growing strain within the NDA, which could complicate alliance strategies in several key constituencies of South Bihar.
