GST fraud surfaced in Muzaffarpur.

Patna June 11: Two persons from Delhi and Kerala fraudulently took the GST numbers on the basis of one PAN Card of a resident of Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district and allegedly did the fraud of Rs 40 crore, an official said.

An FIR has been registered in this connection at Mithanpura police station and district police are investigating the matter.

The incident came to light when a private teacher Rahul Kumar, a resident of BMP-6 Durgapuri Colony of Mithanpura police station in Muzaffarpur, went to file the Income Tax Return. His lawyer gave this information that Rs 40 crore GST debt in his name. After this, he reached the GST office and met Deputy Commissioner Satyendra Kumar Sinha. Then it was confirmed that Rs 40 crore GST is pending in his name. Regarding this matter, Rahul lodged an FIR of GST fraud at Mithanpura police station.

Earlier, a GST scam of Rs 64 crore was done in Delhi in the name of mobile mechanic Shubham of Maharaji Pokhar Mohalla. In this way, two cases have come to light in the city so far. Rahul has told the police that a GST number was obtained by Star Enterprises from Kozhikode Division in Kerala using his PAN card. This company has traded scrap and sheets of aluminum, brass, copper etc. on a large scale. It is said that GST dues of about Rs 15 crore have been reported.

Similarly, another GST number was taken in the name of RK Traders from Uttamnagar division in Delhi using the PAN Card of Rahul. This firm did business in milk and cream. There has been a scam of about 40 crores in the business in both the states. The same mobile number and Gmail have been given in both states to get the GST numbers.

“I have never applied for GST. I do not even have a current account in my name. I am earning my livelihood by going door-to-door and teaching tuition to children at a personal level,” Rahul said.

“We have registered an FIR in this matter and the investigation is underway. We have appointed SI Mithun Kumar to probe this matter,” said Ram Iqbal Prasad, SHO of Mithanpur police station.
