Giriraj Singh criticized Grand Alliance and calls Lalu Yadav is the biggest ‘crocodile’ of Bihar politics.

Patna, June 8, 2025: Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday launched a blistering attack on the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) over the ongoing uncertainty regarding its Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Giriraj Singh claimed Mahagathbandhan is actually a Thug Bandhan:

Speaking to reporters at Patna airport, Singh described the opposition alliance as a “thug Bandhan,” and targeted RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, labeling him the “biggest crocodile of Bihar politics.”

“The Mahagathbandhan is not an alliance, it is a Thug Bandhan Leaders within it are busy pulling each other down,” Singh remarked.

“Lalu Prasad is dreaming Mungeri Lal’s dreams of marking his son the CM. But the people of Bihar have made up their minds _ they will not bring him back to power. If this crocodile returns, it will swallow Bihar once again, “Singh further said.

Giriraj Singh’s comments reflect growing confidence within the NDA and also highlight the visible cracks within the opposition bloc.

The RJD and Congress, two major constituencies of the Mahagathbandhan, have yet to project an unfiled face for Chief Minister, speaking speculation and internal debate.

CM’s face is still a mystery:

Sources within the Mahagathbandhan suggest that a key reason for withholding the announcement of Tejashwi Yadav as a CM candidate is strategic.

There are fears that once he is declared, the NDA will immediately revive the narrative of ‘Jungle Raj,’ a reference to alleged lawlessness during Lalu-Rabri regimes a label Tejashwi has long struggled to shake off.

This tactical ambiguity has reportedly left NDA leaders unsure of whom to target directly in the opposition camp, complicating their pre-election strategy.

Political heat rising:

With months to go before the election, verbal volleys between leaders of both camps have begun to dominate political discourse in Bihar.

Giriraj Singh’s sharp rhetoric signals that that battle for perception has begun, and both alliances are testing the waters before going all-in on camping strategies.

As Bihar heads toward another critical election, the uncertainty over leadership within the opposition, and the NDA’s assertive counter-narratives, are shaping the state’s political climate
