Patna, August 29: Giriraj Singh, the Union Minister of Textile, compared the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with North Korean President Kim Jong-un on Thursday.

While addressing the media persons at Patna airport on Thursday, Giriraj Singh accuses Mamata Banerjee of her undemocratic behavior and intolerance towards opposition views.

Giriraj Singh claimed that Mamata Banerjee’s diminishing popularity in West Bengal has led to adopting what he described as an unconstitutional stance that threatens the country’s federal structure.

Mamata Banerjee has lost her popularity in West Bengal, and hence she is speaking the unconstitutional language and breaking the federal structure of the country,” the union minister said.

The way she is speaking, the voice could not be of a person who believes in democracy. Just like Kim Jong-un, cannot tolerate opposition, Banerjee cannot tolerate the opposition’s views,” he said.

The statement of Giriraj Singh came in the wake of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College incident which has sparked widespread agitation, particularly from the doctors and medical students across the country.

Giriraj Singh further attacked the leaders of the INDIA bloc including RJD national president Lalu Prasad Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and leader of the opposition in Bihar assembly Tejashwi Yadav, accusing them of turning a blind eye to crime against women in West Bengal.

“For Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, the crime against women in West Bengal is not visible. The Tukde-Tukde gang is supporting Mamata Banerjee and not raising their voice against brutal incidents,” he said.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders, including Giriraj Singh, have been consistently criticizing Mamata Banerjee in the light of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College.

On Wednesday, another union minister Rajeev Ranjan Singh who is popularly known as Lalan Singh also criticized Banerjee over the deteriorating law and order situation in West Bengal. He expressed his dismay over the state governance, saying, “There is no rule of governance in West Bengal. There is complete anarchy in the state. We are surprised that the Chief Minister of West Bengal is a woman, and yet when protests take place against crime against women, she orders a lathi charge, uses water cannons and tear gas.”
