Patna, May 9, 2024: Giriraj Singh, the BJP candidate for Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency, on Friday expressed concern over what he termed the increasing population of Muslims and the decreasing population of Hindus in the country.
Singh referred to a recent report released by the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (PM-EAC), which highlighted demographic changes in India over the past 65 years.
According to the report, between 1950 to 2015, the population of Muslims in India rose by 43%, while the Hindu population declined by 7.82%.
The report, which analysed demographic data from 167 countries, has sparked political debate.
Giriraj Singh blamed Congress for demographic imbalance:
Alleging that the Congress played a major role in the country’s demographic imbalance, Singh said, “This is a big conspiracy in which Congress has played the biggest role of appeasement since independence. The issue of vote jihad is coming to light, in which Muslim religious leaders are deciding which candidate to vote for. They did love Jihad, Land Jihad, and now vote Jihad. Since 1947, Congress has kept handing over land to Muslims that should have gone to Hindus.”
Giriraj Singh further claimed that after 1971, Congress policies turned the country into a Dharamshala for Bangladeshi infiltrators and Rohingya Muslims for political gain.
He demanded a strict law to control infiltration and population imbalance.
“There is a conspiracy to eliminate followers of Sanatan Dharma. Congress is giving reservations to Muslims through the back door.
The fertility rate difference between Hindus and Muslims is 1.25%, which shows their intentions,” he alleged.
Tejashwi Yadav raised questions over the report’s authenticity:
Reacting sharply to Giriraj Singh’s remarks, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav questioned the authenticity and motive of the PM-EAC report.
On what basis has this report been made? The census was to be held in 2021, but it has not been conducted yet. It is a report designed to spread hatred in society,” Yadav said.
The controversy adds to ongoing political rhetoric as leaders from both the NDA and the Grand Alliance escalate their campaigns ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
