Patna. March 27, 2024: A massive fire broke out in an AC coach (M-9) of a Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Mumbai)-bound Holi special train (01410) at Karisath railway station in Bhojpur district shortly after midnight on Wednesday, officials said.

The incident occurred around 12:15 am on the Patna—Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction section, barely 8 km from Arrah Junction. The train had departed from Danapur at 11:15 pm on Tuesday and reached Arrah at 12:05 am.

No passengers were coach, preventing the fire:

Fortunately, no passengers were inside the affected coach, preventing casualties. However, panic gripped other compartments, and some passengers jumped off the slowly moving train to save themselves.

Local residents, along with district police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and fire brigade teams, rushed to the spot after passengers alerted authorities via Dial 112. Firefighters managed to douse the flames, while railway officials detached the burning coach to prevent further damage.

Train operations on the up line:

Train operations on the up line were disrupted for about five hours. The remaining coaches later resumed their journey to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai.

The cause of the flame is yet to be determined, officials said.
