Patna August 6: The EOU of Bihar police, a nodal agency for cybercrime has appealed to the candidates of the constable recruitment test to avoid coming under the influence of cyber fraudsters.
The Economic Offence Unit (EOU) DIG Dr. Manavjit Singh Dhillon shared the administrative measures for the constable recruitment exam which begins tomorrow. Last year’s exam was cancelled after the answer keys of the first phase exam of both shifts held on October 1, 2023, went viral on social media, resulting in a nine-month delay.
“The EOU has investigated multiple cases of paper leak. Due to this, we have a comprehensive database. We have received reports of some candidates being approached by paper leak gangs promising to leak question papers and answer keys in exchange for money. To counter these fraudulent activities, we have implemented a stringent monitoring plan to keep an eye on every aspect during the examination,” Dhillon said.
“We have also issued specific mobile and WhatsApp numbers for candidates and parents to report any suspicious activities related to the constable recruitment test. We have urged people that if they receive any kind of rumour or misleading message related to the exam, please do not forward it to another group or any number,” he said.
Dhillon said that mobile number 8544428404 and email ID spcyber_bih@gov.in and cybercell _bih@nic.in have been issued by the EOU.
Given the recurring issue of question paper leaks in Bihar, the EOU is on high alert and actively monitoring all types of social media and phone communications. Several advisories have been issued to ensure the security and integrity of the upcoming examination,” he said.
By issuing an advisory, people have been appealed to report any instance of question papers or answer sheets being made viral on social media. They are asked to immediately provide the person posting such content and relevant social media details.
Additionally, information related to .cyber fraud through such fake calls can also be given on the helpline number 1930 of the NCRB portal.
Dhillon said that false rumours about the exam spread through social media like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp. Such misinformation could jeopardize the fairness and integrity of the exam. Given this, the EOU has heightened its monitoring efforts and advised candidates and parents to remain vigilant.
