Patna, May 16, 2025: as part of the preparations for the Bihar Legislative Assembly General Elections 2025, Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi began a four-day official visit to Bihar on May 15.
The visit is focused on a comprehensive review of election preparedness and ensuring fair, peaceful, and inclusive elections.
On Friday, a high-level review meeting was held in Patna under Election Commissioner Dr. Joshi’s chairmanship.
The meeting was attended by Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, State Police Nodal Officer Kundan Krishnan, top district and police officials including the District Magistrate Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and SSP of Patna Awakash Kumar, and senior officials from the Election Department.
Dr. Vivek Joshi will visit East and West Champaran:
Election Commissioner Dr. Joshi’s itinerary includes field-level inspections in East Champaran (Motihari) and West Champaran (Bettiah).
There, he will monitor the First Level Checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and hold meetings with the District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police (SP), Electoral Registration Officers (ERO), and Booth Level Officers (BLO).

As part of its broader strategy, the Election Commission Of India (ECI) is also conducting large-scale training programs to ensure the accuracy of the electoral rolls, with participation from polling station officers and recognized political parties’ booth agents.
These sessions are supported by IDEM, the Election Commission’s training institute in New Delhi, and are being held division-wise across the state.
The preparation for the poll on the fast track:
Currently, the FLC of EVMs is underway in 13 districts, aimed at ensuring reliability and transparency in the voting process.
Election Commissioner Dr. Joshi’s visit underscores the ECI’s commitment to directly assess voter facilities, security arrangements, training centers, and polling infrastructure. The goal, officials say, is to guarantee a fair, peaceful, and participatory electoral process in Bihar.
