
Patna, June 28, 2025: The Election Commission of India (ECI) started the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar on Saturday.
A notification in this regard was issued from the office of ECI with the signature of P Pawan, the Deputy Director of ECI New Delhi dated June 28, 2025.
As per the official statement of the ECI, it said that the Constitution of India is supreme. All citizens, political parties and the Election Commission of India follow the Constitution.
Eligibility to become a voter is mentioned in Article 326 of the Constitution. Only those Indian citizens who are 18 years of age or above and are ordinarily residents of a constituency are eligible to become voters.
Election Commission claimed full preparation to implement SIR in Bihar:
Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has successfully started in Bihar with full participation of all political parties to confirm the eligibility of every voter.
The Election Commission of India already has 77,895 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), and about 20,603 new BLOs are being appointed for new polling stations.
More than one lakh volunteers will assist genuine voters during this special revision, especially the elderly, sick, disabled, poor and other disadvantaged groups.
All the recognized national and state-level political parties registered with the Election Commission of India have so far appointed 1,54,977 Booth Level Agents (BLAs). They can still appoint more BLAs.
Printing and door-to-door distribution of new Enumeration Forms (EF) for the present 7,89,69,844 voters in all 243 assembly constituencies of Bihar has started.
The facility of filling out the new enumeration forms online has also been started and this process is going on successfully.
Over 7.89 crore voters are enrolled with the Election Commission:
Out of the present 7,89,69,844 voters, the names of about 4.96 crore voters are already in the final intensive revised voter list of January 1, 2003. They only have to confirm it, fill out the enumeration form and submit it.
All divisional commissioners and district officers are engaging all BLOs on full-time duty during the special intensive revision.
SMS are being sent to 5,74,07,022 registered mobile numbers of Bihar and all activities related to Special Intensive Revision are going on smoothly as per the scheduled program.
