Patna October 17, 2024: The Education Department of Bihar has implemented strict measures to prevent the entry of YouTubers and other media organizations into the classrooms of government schools without authorization.
Education Department issued a letter on October 15:
Subodh Kumar Chaudhary, the Director of Administration of the Education Department, issued a letter dated October 15, 2024, instructing all District Education Officers to restrict the unauthorized entry of individuals carrying microphones and cameras into the school premises.
The directive comes after numerous incidents where individuals from various organizations entered schools without permission, using media equipment to disrupt classes and interfere with educational activities.
Chaudhary emphasized that these disruptions hinder students’ ability to focus and learn, which ultimately affects their overall development.
He also noted this trend poses safety concerns for both students and teachers.
Education Department allowed only principals to brief media:
“To safeguard the learning environment, only the school principals will be authorized to provide press briefings, while no other teacher will be allowed to speak to the media. Any media personnel seeking entry into the classrooms must first obtain approval from the principal,” Chaudhary said.
Education Department took action after surging of videos online:
In recent years, a surge of online videos has emerged, showing reporters entering government school classrooms in Bihar and asking teachers and students direct and often irrelevant questions.
These surprise interactions frequently place teachers in awkward situations and creating confusion among students.
This practice has led to public scrutiny of the education system in Bihar, tarnishing the image of teachers and the department itself.
In response, the Education Department has taken action to control media access and protect the dignity of its schools and staff.
