Dr. Vivek Joshi reviewed poll readiness in Motihari and focused on transparency and voter awareness.

Patna, May 17, 2025: Continuing his four-day visit to Bihar, Election Commissioner Dr. Vivek Joshi reached Motihari, the district headquarters of East Champaran, on Saturday to review the election preparations ahead of the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections 2025.

Dr. Joshi inspected Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units at the designated warehouse, accompanied by District Magistrate Saurav Jorwal, Superintendent of Police Swaran Prabhat, and other senior officials.

Leaders and representatives from various political parties also attended the inspection.

The Election Commissioner emphasized transparency and political inclusivity, urging that representatives from all parties be present during such crucial processes.

“The elections will be conduct in peaceful, transparent, and inclusive manners. Guidelines have been issued to ensure that there are no procedural lapses,” said Dr. Joshi while speaking to the media in Motihari.

He also stressed the importance of increasing voter turnout through Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaigns.

DM Saurav Jorwal reiterated the commissioner’s directive to maintain full transparency in election-related procedures.

“The Commissioner’s main concern was that all political party representatives be included in the inspection process and be informed of all developments related to EVMs. We are collecting and incorporating feedback from them.” Jorwal stated, adding that all EVMs and VVPATs will be ready by May 24.

Prior high-level meetings and training initiatives:

On Friday, Dr. Vivek Joshi chaired a high-level meeting in Patna with the senior election and police officials, including Chief Electoral Officer Vinod Singh Gunjiyal, State Police Nodal Officer Kundan Krishnan, DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, and SSP Avkash Kumar.

As part of its broader electoral strategy, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is also conducting extensive training programs across the state to ensure accuracy in electoral rolls.

These sessions involve polling station officers, electoral registration officers, and booth-level agents from recognized political parties.

These efforts are aligned with the Commission’s overarching goal of ensuring free, fair, and participatory elections in Bihar.
