Patna, September 23, 2025: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Tuesday performed the sacred Pind Daan rituals in Gaya, praying for the salvation of his ancestors ahead of the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna.
DK Shivakumar arrived at Visnupad Temple and carried out the traditional rites at Falgu River, Akshayavat, and Vishnupad Temple, offering prayers for his late father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and other forefathers.
He also inscribed his name in the priests’ ledger, following the centuries-old tradition.
Speaking to the media after the rituals, DK Shivakumar expressed a deep sense of fulfillment.
“I am very happy to be at this sacred place. I had heard about Gayaji, where millions come to perform rituals for the salvation of their ancestors. Since I came to Bihar for a meeting in Patna, I also visited Gayaji on this occasion. I performed the rituals for my ancestors so that my family may prosper. I thank all the Pandas who helped me,” DK Shivakumar said.
Local Priest Shibu Lal Bhaiya, a Gayapal Panda from Karnataka region, who facilitated the ceremony, said Shivakumar performed the Pind Daan with great humility and devotion, describing it as a special and rare gesture for a political leader of his stature.”
DK Shivakumar’s political prediction in Bihar:
Along with the religious observance, Shivakumar made a significant political statement.
Predicting a shift in Bihar’s political landscape, he said, “This time, the government here will change. The Grand Alliance will win the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections and come to power.”
CWC leaders including DK Shivakumar arrive in Patna:
Shivakumar’s visit to Gayaji came a day before the historic CWC meeting scheduled at Sadaqat Ashram on September 24.
After the rituals, he headed to the state capital to join the senior leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and other top figures, who began arriving in Patna on Tuesday evening.
A large number of Congress workers gathered at Patna airport to welcome Kharge, who will preside over the crucial meeting aimed at finalizing the party’s strategy for the Bihar Assembly election 2025.
