Patna July 18: Dipankar Bhattacharya, the national general secretary of CPI-ML slammed police action against people who waved Palestinian flags during Muharram processions in the different districts of Bihar.
Dipankar Bhattacharya Criticized Bihar Police:
He asserted that such acts are considered inappropriate and against the Constitution.
While speaking to the media persons in Patna, Bhattacharya emphasized the longstanding relationship of India with Palestine, noting the office of the Palestine High Commissioner is also in India.
“Despite that, if someone comes out on the road with the flag of Palestine in India, and it is being considered a crime, then this is not right,” Bhattacharya said.
He added: “Palestine is not a free country. Till now, lakhs of Palestinian people have been killed and deprived of their rights. If any voice is being raised from anywhere in support of Palestine, then what is wrong with it?” Bhattacharya asked.
Questioning of waving flags:
He drew a parallel line by asking whether displaying the Indian flag in another country would be considered a crime.
“Whether it is the central government or the state government if they are registering a case or sending someone to jail for waving the flag of Palestine, it is wrong. It should be considered as a religious discrimination and a violation of the Constitution,” he said.
Yogi’s moves attributed to religious discrimination:
He also criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for its directive requiring street vendors to disclose their religion and the nature of the products they are selling in the month of Sawan.
“Such an order is a direct violation of the Constitution and an act of discrimination based on religion,” he said.
Dipankar Bhattacharya attacked the Yogi government and said that this order of the UP government was a direct violation of the Constitution. He also said that these people are discriminating in the name of religion.
