Dilip Jaiswal claimed the opposition is entangled in appeasement politics.

Patna, August 8: Dilip Jaiswal, the BJP state president, on Thursday said that the Congress and its alliance partners are entangled in the politics of appeasement and hence they are not able to understand the interest of the country.

The statement of Dilip Jaiswal came after the central government introduced the Wakf Amendment Bill 2024 in the Lok Sabha.

“At present, many problems and disputes related to the Wakf Board have come to the fore, which will be resolved through this amendment bill. It is not only the demand of the present time but is also necessary for the future. The opposition is trying to scare the minorities by opposing this bill. The amendment being made in the bill is not anti-Muslim,” Dilip Jaiswal said.

He further emphasized that this amendment bill will bring transparency.

“The leaders of the opposition are spreading confusion. Those who are opposing it are working against the unity and integrity of the country,” he said.

Dilip Jaiswal’s remarks reflect the BJP’s stance that the Wakf Amendment Bill is a necessary legislative measure aimed at improving the administration of Wakf properties while ensuring fairness and transparency.

Samrat Choudhary, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar said that Congress and other opposition parties are opposing the Wakf Amendment Bill only for the vote bank politics and appeasement policy.

“We thanked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party for supporting the Wakf Amendment Bill. We welcomed the statement of JD (U)’s stance that the bill is not anti-Muslim, but is intended to bring legal accountability to an institution that has operated with considerable autonomy,” Choudhary said.

“The amendment in the Waqf Act has been done on the basis of the Sachchar Committee report. The report said that the income of the Waqf Board from all its assets is only Rs 163 crore. If the Waqf assets were properly maintained, then it would have earned an annual income of Rs 12 thousand crore. This is not the first time that the Waqf Act has been amended, the Waqf Act was changed in the year 2013 also,” Chaudhary said.
