Patna October 24, 2024: Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) candidate Deepa Manjhi, officially filed her nomination for the Imamganj reserved seat by-election on Thursday. She was looking confident of winning the by-poll.

Deepa Manjhi accompanied by her father-in-law and Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, submitted her nomination at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate office in Gaya.

Jitan Ram Manjhi is facing criticism of promoting nepotism through Deepa Manjhi:

Despite facing criticism for promoting dynastic politics, Jitan Ram Manjhi defended the decision to back his daughter-in-law as a candidate.

“Deepa Manjhi is indeed his daughter-in-law, her candidacy is preliminary based on her dedication and hard work. She was the district council member before her marriage and lost the poll of district council president with a narrow margin of just 2 votes,” Manjhi said.

In addition to her political experience, Manjhi praised her passion for social work and reiterated that her capabilities go beyond family ties.

Manjhi also reflected on the progress made in Imamganj during his tenure noting that before 2015, the area was marred by illegal activities.

“Under my leadership, peace has been restored, and many developmental works have been completed. Due to this, Deepa Manjhi faces no real electoral challenges in the by-poll, as the people of the constituency are now enjoying the peace and development brought about during my tenure as MLA,” Manjhi claimed.

He further emphasized that elderly residents of Imamganj, now speak of the peace they experience, attributing this stability to his leadership.

He assured the public that any remaining issues would be addressed, and Deepa would continue the work he had begun.

Deepa Manjhi acknowledged the good works of her father-in-law:

Deepa Manjhi expressed confidence in her broad support. She emphasized her commitment to completing the development work started by her father-in-law, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and promised to address the remaining challenges in the constituency.

“My key priorities are creating small employment opportunities for women, and improving education and healthcare in the region. There is a lack of adequate medical facilities in the area, and one of my major goals is to focus on building a hospital that can provide quality treatment,” Deepa Manjhi said.

She reiterated that although her father-in-law has made significant strides in the constituency, there is still more work to be done, and she is determined to fulfill any unfinished dreams of Jitan Ram Manjhi.

She also mentioned that better arrangements for various public services have already been put in place.

Regarding the dissatisfaction among party workers, Deepa dismissed these claims, attributing them to opposition rumours, and assured that there is no internal discord.
