Patna, April 26, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attacked the Congress over Sam Pitroda’s Inheritance tax remark, alleging that if the party comes to power, it will “rob the properties of common people” through such a levy.
PM Narendra Modi claimed people are scared of Congress’s inheritance tax:
“The entire country, including youth and elderly parents, is concerned that grand old party may impose an inheritance tax and seize people’s property. That’s why the nation is saying: ‘Congress ki loot zindagi ke saath bhi, zindagi ke baad bhi.’”
Modi claimed that the Grand old party has plans to survey the wealth and income of every family and impose taxes on inherited property.
“The prince of Grand old party says he will survey your property and impose an inheritance tax. A party steeped in corruption now has its eyes on your hard-earned assets,” he said.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi further alleged that the INDI alliance aims to bring reservation based on religion, citing Karnataka as an example where Muslims were included in the OBC quota.
“Our Constitution gives 27% reservation to OBCs, but Congress has given part of it to Muslims in Karnataka. They want to implement this model across the country,” Modi warned.
“As long as Modi is alive, no one can snatch the rights of SC, ST, and OBC communities. This is Modi’s guarantee.”
Religious reservation of Congress is more dangerous, says PM Modi:
Narendra Modi also referred to an old video of former PM Manmohan Singh, claiming that Singh once said, “Muslims have the first right to the resources of the country.” Modi questioned why Congress and its “fact checkers” have remained silent on the resurfaced clip.
The remarks come amid a heated national debate after Congress strategist Sam Pitroda spoke about the inheritance tax in the U.S. as an example of wealth redistribution—comments that the Congress later distanced itself from.
