Patna, July 21, 2025: The monsoon session of Bihar Legislative Assembly began on Monday with high drama, as leaders of Congress and Left parties staged protests outside the House, targeting the Nitish Kumar government on issues of law and order, voter list revision, and unemployment.
Congress protest highlight:
Congress state president Rajesh Ram and Leader of the Legislative Party Shakeel Ahmed Khan, along with party MLAs, held banners and posters while raising slogans against the government.
Rajesh Ram stated, “The youth of Bihar are troubled due to unemployment and migration. Does the House have run in such a situation? The government does not want to answer the questions of the opposition; they only want to pass bills.”

Congress Legislative party leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan said, “ Neither the Bihar government nor the Centre listens to the opposition. We will surround the government inside and outside the House on people’s issues.”
Left MLAs in black, demand withdrawal of voter list revision:
Apart from Congress leaders, Left legislators wearing black cloths staged a protest outside the Assembly demanding an immediate halt to the special voter list revision underway before the Bihar Assembly election.
Holding posters that read election thief leave the throne, Mahmoob Alam, the CPI-MP MLA, alleged, The voter list revision process was a conspiracy to remove the names of poor and minorities from the voter rolls with the alleged connivance of the Election Commission and the Central government.”
The opposition is planning to adopt an aggressive stance inside the Assembly, aiming to corner the government on law and order, unemployment, youth migration, and the voter list revision exercise before the elections.
Meanwhile, the Nitish Kumar government will focus on passing key bills, with about 12 bills expected to be tabled during the five-day monsoon session.

The monsoon session is seen as politically significant, being the last session of the current government before the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
It is expected to witness sharp exchanges between the ruling and opposition benches over governance issues and election-related concerns.
