Patna December 31, 2024: The agitation by BPSC candidates demanding a re-examination of the 70th combined preliminary exam continues to draw political and public attention in Bihar.
Opposition parties, notably Congress and CPI-ML, have intensified their support, staging a protest march on Tuesday to deliver a memorandum to the Bihar Governor.
However, their march was disrupted by district police, preventing them from reaching Raj Bhavan.
Escalation of Protests after the participation of Congress and CPI-ML:
During the march, Congress and CPI-ML legislators clashed with police, asserting their right to proceed on foot.
When stopped, they staged a sit-in on the road, amplifying their demand for the cancellation of the examination held at 912 centres. CPI-ML MP from Arrah Sudama Prasad condemned the state government, stating, “We are with the agitating students of BPSC. The entire examination should be cancelled. The state government is playing with the future of candidates.”
Political Tensions within the Grand Alliance:
The absence of Tejashwi Yadav and other RJD MLAs from the Mahagathbandhan’s protest has raised questions about the alliance’s unity.
This apparent rift fuelled speculation that relations between Congress and RJD are strained, as Congress and CPI-ML took the forefront of the agitation.
Political leaders across the spectrum are leveraging the BPSC issue. On Monday, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav submitted a memorandum to the Governor, demanding a re-examination.
He also discussed the issue with Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena. Separately, a the-member delegation of BPSC candidates, supported by Jan Suraj Party chief Prashant Kishor, met with the Chief Secretary to press similar demands.
The BPSC case has escalated into a major political flashpoint in Bihar. Opposition leaders are using the agitation to challenge the government and underscore issues of transparency and fairness in recruitment processes.
The growing protests, political alliances, and public outcry ensure that the demand for a re-examination remains a central issue, keeping the state’s political temperature at a boiling point.
Amidst these developments, the candidates’ demand remains consistent: the re-examination of the 70th BPSC exam to ensure fairness and transparency. As the agitation of candidates is currently underway in Gardanibagh, all eyes are on the government and BPSC for the resolution.
