CM Nitish Kumar welcomes Union Budget 2025  and calls it progressive and forward-looking.

Patna February 1, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed his appreciation for the Union Budget 2025, stating that it will provide a significant boost to the economy of Bihar and the country as a whole.

Describing the budget as positive and welcome, he commended the central government for taking progressive and forward-looking steps aimed at accelerating the nation’s development.

Nitish Kumar said the Union budget 2025 will directly benefit Bihar:

CM Nitish Kumar highlighted several key provisions in the budget that will have a direct impact on Bihar’s development.

”The central government’s decision to establish a Makhana Board in Bihar is expected to enhance the production, processing, value addition, and marketing of Makhana. This initiative will greatly benefit Makhana farmers, helping those secure better incomes and access to wider markets,” he said.

Nitish Kumar said the budget includes provisions for the development of Greenfield airports in Bihar, aimed at meeting the state’s growing aviation needs.

This move will lead to an increase in international flights, benefiting travellers while also accelerating economic development in the region.

The allocation of financial assistance for the Western Kosi Canal projects in Mithilanchal will greatly benefit the farmers in the region.

“The budget provides for the expansion of IIT Patna, which is expected to boost technical education in Bihar. The expansion will create better research opportunities and attract top-tier faculty and students,”

Establishment of the National Institute of Food technology, entrepreneurship, and Management:

Nitish Kumar said this institute will provide skill development, entrepreneurship training, and employment opportunities to youth in Bihar. The initiative is also expected to strengthen food processing activities in eastern India, benefiting local industries and farmers.

The Chief Minister also appreciated several budgetary measures that would positively impact the middle class, farmers, and small businesses.

“The increase in the income tax exemption limit up to Rs. 12 lakh will provide much-needed relief to the middle class. The loan limit for farmers under the Kisan Credit card has been raised from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 5 lakh, facilitating greater financial support and the enhancement of the MSME credit guarantee cover from Rs. 5 crores to Rs. 10 crores will increase employment opportunities and support small enterprises,” Kumar said.

CM Nitish Kumar emphasized that the Union Budget 2025 takes significant steps in favour of the poor. Youth, and farmers, ensuring inclusive development. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a well-structured and growth-oriented budget.

With these announcements, the Bihar government looks forward to leveraging the central allocations to accelerate infrastructure development, enhance agricultural productivity, and promote industrial growth in the state.
