CM Nitish Kumar lays foundation stones for development projects worth Rs 574.16 crore in Muzaffarpur.

Patna, July 31, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a slew of infrastructure and development projects worth approximately Rs 574.16 crore during his visit to Muzaffarpur district.

The project’s aim is to address longstanding civic challenges and improve connectivity in the region.

The most prominent project is a rail overbridge near Madipur Power House, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 167 crore.

Once completed, it is expected to ease chronic traffic congestion in the area, offering a long-awaited solution to daily commuters.

Another major initiative includes an RCC bridge in the Madhurpatti area of Gaighat, to be built at a cost of Rs 24 crore. This bridge will provide a safe and reliable route for local residents, improving mobility in the region.

Nitish Kumar’s broader development push:

Besides these two important projects, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for five additional schemes.

While the specifics of these projects were not detailed, officials stated that they are focused on strengthening the overall infrastructure of the region, particularly in transportation and connectivity.

Nitish Kumar’s visit and significance:

CM Nitish Kumar reached Muzaffarpur by road and directly proceeded to the foundation-laying site.

His visit comes at a time when the government is aggressively showcasing its development agenda ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

The series of foundation stones not only marks the start of long-awaited projects but also signals the government’s commitment to resolving urban infrastructure bottlenecks that have plagued regions like Muzaffarpur for decades.
