Patna, January 17, 2026: On the second day of the Samridhi Yatra (Prosperity Journey), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Motihari in East Champaran district on Saturday, where he inaugurated 30 development projects and laid the foundation stone for 40 projects.
In a written statement, Nitish Kumar said the Samridhi Yatra has been launched to review the progress of development works and public welfare schemes across Bihar.
As part of the Samridhi Yatra, I visited East Champaran district on Saturday and reviewed various development projects,” Kumar said.
Nitish Kumar inaugurated projects worth Rs 138 crore:
He stated that in East Champaran alone, foundation stones were laid for 40 projects worth Rs 34 crore, while 30 projects worth Rs 138 crore were inaugurated.
During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected the Centre of Excellence at the Women’s Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Motihari and interacted with students.
He also reviewed bridge construction work and inspected the progress of other development projects in Manjuraha village.
“During the journey, I reviewed development works and welfare schemes being implemented by various departments and directed officials to complete them expeditiously with full commitment and sensitivity,” Kumar said. He also participated in a public interaction program at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari and addressed the gathering.

Apart from development activities, CM Nitish Kumar visited the Virat Ramayana Temple in Motihari and took part in the installation ceremony of what is being described as the world’s heaviest Shivling.
Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary, and several other senior leaders and officials were present during the program.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended a state ceremony at Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district, where he paid floral tributes at the statue site of prominent freedom fighters.
He honoured the memory of martyr Nathun Singh Yadav, Late Mogal Singh, Late Pandit Sheelbhadra Yaji, Late Kaviraj Ramlakhan Singh Vaidya and Late Dumar Singh.
