Patna, July 30, 2025: In a major pre-election announcement, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced a substantial hike in the honorarium of ASHA and Mamta workers, recognizing rural healthcare.
The announcement was made via a post on the Chief Minister’s official social media account.
In his tweet, CM Nitish stated: “Since the formation of our government in November 2005, we have had health services. ASHA and Mamta workers have played an important role in strengthening healthcare in rural areas. Honoring their contribution, it has been decided to increase their honorarium.”
Nitish Kumar announced Rs. 3000 for ASHA and Rs. 600 for MAMTA workers:
With this announcement, ASHA workers will now receive an incentive of Rs. 3,000, up from the earlier Rs. 1,000.
Mamta workers will now be paid Rs 600 per delivery, compared to the previous Rs. 300.

This long-awaited decision has created a wave of enthusiasm among the ASHA and enthusiasm among the ASHA and Mamta workers communities.
Many had been demanding a hike for months, and the announcement has now been seen as recognition of their tireless work, particularly in the state’s rural and remote areas.

Earlier, he had announced a Journalist pension scheme by increasing the amount from Rs 6,000 to Rs. 15,000 under the Bihar Patrakar Samman Pension Yojana.
Social Security Pension was also hiked from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1,100 for disabled, elderly and widowed women in Bihar.
Nitish Kumar also announced 125 units of electricity free of cost to all eligible households, and the government has promised to create 1 crore jobs over the next five years.
Observers see these decisions as a part of CM Nitish Kumar’s strategy to consolidate support among grassroots workers, rural women, journalists, and the youth—key voter segments in the upcoming election.
