CM Nitish Kumar flags off 71 new police vehicles to boost traffic management in Bihar.

Patna, August 2, 2025: In a major effort to enhance road safety and streamline traffic management across Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday flagged off 71 new police vehicles from his official residence at 1 Anne Marg, Patna.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by both Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha and Samrat Choudhary, DGP Vinay Kumar, cabinet ministers, and senior officials from the police and transport departments.

Nitish Kumar government’s focus on modernizing the state police:

These new vehicles are specially designed for DSPs and traffic police stations across the 38 districts of Bihar.

They are intended to improve traffic monitoring, accident control, enforcement of road safety rules, and reduction of traffic congestion, especially on national highways, state highways, and key city roads.

Speaking at the event, CM Nitish Kumar said: “Our priority is that the roads of Bihar remain safe and organized. These new vehicles will make traffic management more effective and enhance public services.”

Cops will get proper training to operate the vehicles:

DGP Vinay Kumar informed that the vehicles will be dispatched to the respective districts promptly and that police personnel will receive training on their operation and use.

The Nitish Kumar government also announced future plans to procure more modern vehicles and technical equipment to further strengthen the traffic policing system and ensure stricter enforcement of road safety norms.
