Chitranjan Gagan said the apex court notice exposed the Nitish government.
Patna September 7: Chitranjan Gagan, the senior leader of RJD and a spokesperson said that the notice of the Supreme Court to Bihar and the central government on 65% reservation has confirmed their suspicious roles on this issue.
The three-member bench comprising CJI D Y Chandrachud, Justice J B Padriwala, and Justice Manoj Mishra issued a notice to the Bihar government and others on Friday and asked them to reply on this matter
Chitranjan Gagan said that the way JD (U) and BJP acted on this issue, it is clear that RJD is on the one side and JD (U) and BJP are on the other side on the increased 65% reservation in Bihar.
“Nitish Kumar has changed his stance on reservation after allying with the BJP. He had previously supported reservations due to the pressure of RJD but shifted his position to align with the BJP and appease PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah,” Gagan said.
Following the Supreme Court notice, the situation has escalated tensions between the RJD and ruling coalition government in Bihar, with the RJD positioning itself as a defender of increased reservation.
“When the petition related to the increased reservations was debated in Patna High Court, the Bihar government deliberately not defended this case strongly allegedly to appease the BJP. This lack of defense resulted in the Patna High Court ruling against the reservation amendment law,” He said.
Chitranjan Gagan claimed that the approach of the Bihar government has exposed the double-faced politics of BJP and JD (U) regarding reservation. The role of JD (U) turned into a puppet of the BJP.
Now, the citizens of Bihar and the country are convinced that if any warrior fighting for the rights of Dalits, backward and tribal people, it is Tejashwi Yadav.
“Our party has already announced its determination to fight for the reservation issue on multiple fronts: in the streets, court and assembly,” Gagan said.

Chitranjan Gagan’s statement reflects the RJD’s positioning of itself as the primary defender of marginalized communities in the face of what they perceive as betrayal by the BJP-JD (U) alliance. The RJD decided to continue the battle to secure and protect the reservation rights of these communities.
