Patna, May 2, 2024: Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Thursday filed his nomination papers from Hajipur, the traditional constituency of his late father and party founder Ram Vilas Paswan.

Before heading to the office of the District Magistrate-cum-Returning Officer of his Hajipur, Chirag sought the blessing of his mother, Reena Paswan, and paid tribute to his father.

Chirag Paswan is contesting against RJD candidate:

He is contesting against RJD candidate Shivchandra Ram, who had lost the 2019 Lok Sabha election to Pashupati Kumar Paras, Chirag’s uncle.

“This is the first time I have filed a nomination without my father. If he were alive, he would have given me the party symbol himself. Today, I am going to file the nomination with his blessing to give a new identity to his workplace. I will fulfill every dream my father had for Hajipur,” Chirag said.

Expressing gratitude towards the people of the constituency, Chirag added:

“The way the people of Hajipur loved and respected my father, I too expect the same kind of love and respect. I do not take any election lightly.”

Hajipur is a stronghold for Chirag Paswan:

Hajipur holds deep emotional and political significance for the Paswan family. The late Ram Vilas Paswan had won the seat multiple times—in 1977, 1980, 1989, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004, and 2014—making it one of the strongest bastions of the Lok Janshakti Party.

In 2019, Ram Vilas Paswan had allotted the Hajipur seat to his younger brother Pashupati Kumar Paras, who went on to win the election.
