Chirag Paswan sharply criticized Lalu Prasad Yadav for his distrust of EVMs.
Patna November 29, 2024: Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief, criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national president Lalu Prasad Yadav for raising concerns about the reliability of EVMs.
Chirag Paswan dismissed his criticism, stating that questioning EVMs only when election results are unfavourable reflects a “double character.”
Chirag Paswan challenges opposition to boycott polls:
He challenged the opposition to announce a boycott of the election if they truly trust EVMs, emphasizing that electoral claims should align with their stance on voting systems.
Paswan also accused the opposition of inconsistency, pointing out their acceptance of EVM results in states like Jharkhand while rejecting them in others like Bihar and Maharashtra.
“Before the election, big claims are made about winning. When they lose, EVMs are questioned. This is a double-standard of the opposition leaders.” Paswan said.
Chirag Paswan also criticized the opposition for creating fear about quota and the constitution:
Additionally, Paswan criticized the leader of the INDIA alliance, accusing them of fear-mongering by alleging that the Constitution and reservations are under the threat in current regime.
Chirag Paswan said that they are diminishing credibility stems from repeated false claims, urging them to introspect and understand why the electorate is losing trust.
“Everyone knows that no one can remove reservation or change the Constitution. They are spreading fear among people by telling lies,” he said.
This exchange unfolds as Bihar gears up for its upcoming assembly elections, setting the stage for an intense political battle. The debate over EVMS versus traditional ballots has been a recurring issue in Indian politics, with parties often questioning the systems’ reliability based on electoral outcomes.
Chirag Paswan’s remarks underline a broader narrative, portraying opposition criticisms as attempts to divert attention from their inability to connect with voters.
The ongoing rhetoric between political leaders in Bihar highlights the contentious debate surrounding the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in Indian elections.
