Chirag Paswan met Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Patna.

Patna: Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPR) national president Chirag Paswan met with the Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in the latter’s official residence in Patna on Thursday.

This was the first meeting between Chirag Paswan and CM Nitish Kumar after a long time. Deputy chief minister Samrat Choudhary, health and agriculture minister of Bihar government Mangal Pandey and JD-U Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha were also present in the meeting.

The chief minister’s residence has released a photograph of the meeting where CM Nitish Kumar has put his hands on the shoulders of Chirag Paswan.

Following the meeting, Chirag Paswan said: “We will win all 40 seats of Bihar in the Lok Sabha election 2024. NDA had three political parties in Bihar and won 39 seats in the Lok Sabha election 2019. This time, two more political parties have joined the NDA. I firmly believe that we will win all 40 seats of Bihar.”

T&he loggerhead between Chirag Paswan and JD-U leaders were seen in the past. The leaders of JD-U, on several occasions, blamed Chirag Paswan for acting against their party especially in the 2020 assembly election. JD-U performed badly in the 2020 assembly election and became the number three party of the state. Chirag Paswan, in that assembly election, had given the party’s tickets to the candidates on those seats where JD-U candidates were contesting. As a result, a number of JD-U candidates had lost that election. JD-U, which was the alliance partner of NDA, had contested 115 seats in the 2020 assembly election and won only 43 seats.

On the other hand, Chirag Paswan was critical of CM Nitish Kumar. He criticised Nitish Kumar on various issues including law and order situations, liquor prohibition act, corruption etc. Even his party leaders believe that Nitish Kumar was behind the split of LJP in 2021.
