Chirag Paswan criticized BPSC for not listening to the grievances of candidates for the 70th PT exam.

Patna January 29, 2025: Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, has voiced strong support for Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates, criticizing the commission for alleged irregularities in the recently held 70th PT BPSC examination.
Chirag Paswan shown solidarity with agitating candidates:
Chirag Paswan accused BPSC officials of ignoring students’ grievances, stating that despite admitting to irregularities at Patna’s Bapu examination centre where question papers reportedly went viral on social media the commission only cancelled and re-conducted the exam for that specific centre instead of scrapping the entire test.
“The selective cancellation was unfair to other candidates. Why BPSC failed to follow standard operating procedures before conducting the exam,” Paswan said.
The 70th PT BPSC exam took place on December 13, 2024, across 912 centres in Bihar. Reports of large-scale discrepancies, especially at the Bapu centre in Patna’s Kumhrar locality, led to significant protests. In response, BPSC re-conducted the exam for that centre on January 4, 2025.
However, 14 petitioners later moved the Patna High Court, demanding the cancelation of both exams due to alleged question paper leaks, inadequate exam preparation, and last-minute centre changes. On January 16, Justice Arvind Singh Chandel denied their request to cancel the exam or stay its results but directed BPSC and the Bihar Government to submit a detailed reply by January 30. The next hearing is scheduled for January 31.
Chirag Paswan’s remarks add pressure on BPSC as candidates continue to demand fair treatment and accountability in the examination process.
As the controversy surrounding the 70th BPSC preliminary examination escalates, thousands of candidates have announced a mega demonstration in Patna on January 30, demanding the cancellation of the exam due to alleged irregularities.
Statewide Mobilization for Protest:
Candidates have been actively gathering support from aspirants across Bihar, visiting major coaching hubs such as Musallahpur Haat, Bhikhana Pahadi, and Annie Besant Road in Patna. They have also reached out to students in various districts, urging them to participate in large numbers.
Meanwhile, since December 18, agitating students have been staging a Dharna (sit-in protest) at Gardanibagh, calling their movement “Shiksha Satyagraha,” inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of nonviolent resistance.
On January 30 Gandhi’s death anniversary, students have intensified their call to take to the streets, alleging that their voices have been ignored by the authorities.
