Chirag Paswan accused his uncle Pashupati Paras of mistreating his elder mother over a property dispute.

Patna April 5, 2025: The internal rift in the Paswan family took a dramatic turn as Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan alleged that his uncle and former Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and his wife for mistreating his elder mother Rajkumari Devi, in a dispute over ancestral property.

On Saturday, Chirag Paswan arrived by helicopter in his ancestral village Shaharbanni in the Alauli Police station limit in Khagaria district to meet Rajkumari Devi, the first wife of Ram Vilas Paswan.

The emotional reunion saw the elderly woman break down in tears, hugging Chirag as he inquired about her well-being and had a meal with her.

Chirag Paswan alleged harassment and property conflict:

Chirag Paswan alleged that Rajkumari Devi’s bedroom and bathroom were locked allegedly by Paras’s wife and Late Ramchandra Paswan’s wife and that her belongings were thrown out of the house.

The incident reportedly worsened her health. Following that incident, an FIR was lodged in the Alauli police station.

Speaking to the media, Chirag Paswan launched a scathing attack: “First he (Paras) snatched the Delhi house, expelled me and my mother Reena Paswan from the party, broke the party built by my father and now such treatment is being done with my elder mother for the sake of bigger share in property.”

Chirag Paswan added a warning: “If uncle and aunt want division, let them take the initiative. But if the matter reaches formal partition, then all properties in Noida, Delhi and elsewhere, which have remained hidden till now, will also be exposed.”

Allegation of misuse of government salary:

Chirag Paswan also leveled a personal accusation against one of his aunts, claiming: “My aunt, who is a government school teacher, allegedly does not go to school but still draws a salary. Locals in the village are aware of this.”

Former Samastipur MP Prince Raj dismissed allegations:

Responding to the controversy, former MP Prince Raj, a cousin brother (Late Ramchandra Paswan’s son) and a key figure in the Rashtriya Lokjanshakti Party (RLJP) hit back at Chirag Paswan.

Speaking at a joint workers’ conference of RLJP and Dalit Sena in Darbhanga, he termed the allegations as unfortunate and dirty politics.

“Similar conspiracies were played in 2020, and now again in 2025. Who knows what will happen in 2030.? This is clearly for political gain. If the matter is just about the house, why are MP’s representatives and party’s district heads going to the police? Filing a case against our mother is nothing but a political stunt,” he said.

Prince Raj questioned Chirag Paswan’s intentions stating: “Those who don’t visit the village regularly are now calling in the media. What does that show?”

The Paswan family, long seen as a pillar of Dalit politics in Bihar, has witnessed deep internal divisions ever since the death of Ram Vilas Paswan.

The split between Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras led to a division in the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and continues to echo in both political and personal arenas.
