Chhattisgarh ACB and EOW arrested an alleged accused of liquor scam from Bihar’s Gopalganj district.

Patna: In a joint operation of Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) and Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of Chhattisgarh arrested one of the accused of liquor scam from Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Thursday.

Gopalganj SP Swarn Prabhat confirms the arrest. He said that a joint team of ACB and EOW of Chhattisgarh with the help of district police raided Sisai village under Bhorey police station on Thursday night and arrested an alleged accused Arunpati Tripathi.

Arunpati Tripathi was posted as a director in the excise department in Chhattisgarh. He also served a jail term for 9 months. After the release, he was absconding for the last four months and his mobile phone was also switched off.

Arunpati Tripathi is a son of Prakashpati Tripathi, a resident of sector 9 in Bhilai. He is facing the alleged charges of Rs 776 crore liquor scam of Chhattisgarh.

After the arrest, a video message of Arunpati Tripathi was also circulated on the social media where he claimed: “After the formation of new government in Chhattisgarh, those people are implicating me.”

The Chhattisgarh liquor scam happened in between 2019 to 2022 and 70 persons including some top officials booked in it.
