Chandrashekhar Singh ordered an inquiry into the welcome gate collapsed.
Patna, September 10: Chandrashekhar Singh, the district magistrate of Patna ordered an inquiry into the welcome gate collapsed in district Belchi block late on Monday night.
The Welcome gate collapsed just in front of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s convoy on Monday when he was returning from Belchi block in Patna district after the inauguration of a block development cum circle office. This led to a brief period of panic among the officials and others present at the scene.
As a temporary solution, security officers held up the fallen makeshift gate to allow the convoy to pass.
Chandrashekhar Singh has sent a letter to the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) and Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Barh range and instructed them to investigate the incident thoroughly and submit the report within 24 hours.
“This was a serious lapse and needs to be investigated thoroughly. Hence, the SDO and SDPO have been asked to jointly investigate the incident and submit the report within 24 hours,” Chandrashekhar Singh said.
This incident has highlighted concern over safety protocols at public events, especially those involving high-profile figures like the Chief Minister. The investigation ordered by the district magistrate is expected to clarify the circumstances leading to the gate’s collapse and address any negligence that may have occurred.
Apart from Belchi, Nitish Kumar also inspected the construction of a four-lane road between Bakhtiyarpur and Mokama and a six-lane road bridge on the Ganga River at Hathidah. He also inaugurated Maranchi Primary Health Centre.
His visit underscored the government’s ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure in the flood-affected Mokama region.
In the past 10 days, CM Nitish Kumar has been actively touring various districts in Bihar and inaugurating and inspecting multiple infrastructural projects including a Dam in Aurangabad, an inspection of a medical college in Arrah and an Airport in Bihta.
