Patna, August 7: BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok demanded to provide shelter for the people of the Hindu community migrating from Bangladesh.
The statement of Ajay Alok came amid the ongoing crisis in Bangladesh and a large number of people of the Hindu community being targeted by the local fundamentalists.
“We need to make preparations in India to settle as many as Hindu people who come from Bangladesh and send back to their countries as many Bangladeshi and Rohingya Muslims whose population is more than 4 crores in India,” Alok said while uploading a post on the social media platform X.
He further said: “When peaceful ways of living have been made based on religious grounds surrounding our country, we cannot remain unaffected by it.”
“The minorities in our country should not be worried. We Hindus are peaceful but we should not become the voice of infiltrators from other countries,” he said.
Reacting to the statement of Ajay Alok, RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari criticized the BJP for its perceived discriminatory mindset towards Hindus and Muslims.
“The country is governed according to the law and constitution, not by the wish of any individual or party. BJP is looking at the Bangladesh crisis through the religious lens to gain political advantage. Such tactics backfired in the Lok Sabha election when they played the Hindu-Muslim card and lost Ayodhya,” Tiwari said.
Tiwari stressed the need for careful monitoring and appropriate action regarding the Bangladesh crisis,” Tiwari said.
Another RJD spokesperson Azya Yadav said: “Ajay Alok uploaded a post on social media but it is not clear whether he is demanding from the government or expressing his views. If he is demanding then I want to ask him to address the demand directly to his party and the government instead of posting them on social media.
“His action looks to be more about political on a sensitive issue rather than genuine concern on Bangladesh’s current situation,” She said.
