Patna, April 1, 2024: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Bima Bharti on Monday claimed that former MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav would support her in the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Purnea.
“We are fully prepared to contest the Lok Sabha election from Purnea. Our state president and party leaders are extending their full support, and I will work under the guidance of the party,” Bima Bharti said while speaking to media persons in Patna.
Responding to queries about Pappu Yadav, who has announced his independent candidate from Purnea, Bharti said, “Pappu Yadav is our guardian, and he is with us. I have invited him to join my nomination programme. The people of Purnea are supporting me wholeheartedly.”
Bima Bharti met Jagadanand Singh:
Bharti met RJD state president Jagadanand Singh at the party office in Patna on Monday and discussed the poll strategy. She is currently campaigning in Purnea and is scheduled to file her nomination on April 3.
Meanwhile, five-time MP Pappu Yadav has rescheduled his nomination from April 2 to April 4, citing requests from his supporters across the country who wished to attend the event.
Pappu Yadav merged his party into the Congress:
Pappu Yadav, who merged his Jan Adhikar Party (JAP) with the Congress on March 20, had initially hoped to contest the seat on a Congress ticket. However, as the Purnea constituency was allotted to the RJD under the INDIA bloc’s seat-sharing arrangement, he decided to run as an independent candidate.
“I request RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to reconsider his decision and give the Purnea seat to the Congress to honor the coalition pact. I am a part of the family and will contest only from Purnea,” Yadav said while addressing the media in Purnea.
