Patna August 6: Bihar police are maintaining a high alert, particularly in the areas connected to the Bangladesh border.
Vikas Kumar, the DIG of Purnea range said the Bihar police are coordinating with Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Border Security Force (BSF) in the border areas connected with the unrest nation.
“We have asked the police of Katihar and Kishanganj districts to remain vigilant. These two districts are connected by the Bangladesh border. Besides, Purnea and Araria districts are also asked to stay alert. The Bangladesh border from Kishanganj district is just 17 km. We have also asked the local residents to cooperate with the security forces,” DIG Vikas Kumar said.
“Given that, the Katihar and Kishanganj districts share the border with Bangladesh, there is a heightened risk of infiltration. Hence, the security forces are on high alert to prevent any such occurrences,” he said.
Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, the water resource minister of the Nitish Kumar government said Bihar police is keeping a close watch on the development of Bangladesh. He condemned the attack on the Hindu temples and Hindu community people in Bangladesh.
“The Indian government is fully aware and sensitive to the situation in Bangladesh. As this is an international issue, the central government is taking full cognizance of it. The Indian government has been seriously addressing this matter since yesterday and remains fully alert to any aspects that affect India’s interest,” Chaudhary said.
Vijay Kumar Chaudhary said that Bihar police also needs to be vigilant in this matter. He mentioned a discussion with chief minister Nitish Kumar, indicating that, the administration of Bihar is also fully alert and active.
“Because Bangladesh is a neighboring country of India and its borders are also adjacent to Bihar. In such a situation, the Bihar police and civil administration is fully alert, especially in the border areas,” he said.
