Patna, July 25, 2025: In a joint initiative, the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation ESIC) organized a seminar on Friday to spread awareness about the Scheme to Promote Registration of Employers/Employees (SPREE) 2025, launched by the Corporation for the benefit of employers and employees.

Bihar Chamber of Commerce’s head explains its benefits:

Bihar Chamber of Commerce President Subhash Patwari welcomed participants, said the objective of the seminar was to provide detailed information to members about SPREE-2025, which offers an opportunity for employers and employees who were mandatorily required to register under ESIC but could not comply with past liabilities or submit documents.

Under this scheme, such employers can now register without fear of retrospective liabilities.

The SPREE-2025 scheme will remain effective from July 1 to December 31, 2025.

Bihar Chamber of Commerce’s president explained that establishments registering during this period will be deemed covered from the date of registration or the declared date, and new employees will be covered from their registration date.

Importantly, no past dues, interest, or damages will be levied, and the Corporation will not demand inspection records for the previous five years from such establishments.

He urged entrepreneurs and businessmen with establishments having 10 or more employees earning up to Rs 21,000 per month to take advantage of this facility to avoid potential legal complications in the future.

Former Bihar Chamber of Commerce P. K Agrawal lauded the ESIC scheme for its benefits to many but highlighted that the delay due to heavy paperwork often troubles employers, urging the Corporation to address this issue.

Insurance facilities in smaller cities:

Insurance Commissioner Pranay Sinha, detailing ESIC facilities, announced plans to open hospitals at Muzaffarpur, Begusarai and Bhagalpur to enhance healthcare accessibility for insured persons.

He emphasized that ESIC not only provides medical facilities to insured persons and their dependents but also reserves seats in medical colleges for the children of dependents, further underlining the Corporation’s commitment to employee welfare.

The seminar witnessed active participation from industrialists, entrepreneurs, and professionals, who discussed the opportunities presented by SPREE-2025 for compliance while ensuring social security for employees in Bihar.
