Patna, May 16, 2025: In a significant development, the Bihar cabinet led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar approved 69 important proposals during a meeting held at the central hall of the cabinet secretariat on Friday.

Bihar cabinet approved Rs. 50 lakh compensation for families of martyrs in Operation Sindoor:
One of the most prominent decisions was the approval of Rs. 50 lakh in compensation to the families of soldiers martyred during Operation Sindoor.

Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddhartha confirmed that this move reflects the state government’s commitment to recognizing the supreme sacrifices made by its brave soldiers.
The cabinet paid tribute to late BJP leader and former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi deciding that his birth anniversary on January 5 will now be observed as a state function every year.
This gesture aims to commemorate his contributions to Bihar’s political and administrative landscape.
Gaya district renamed ‘Gaya Ji’:
Fulfilling a long-standing public demand, the Bihar cabinet has approved renaming Gaya district as ‘Gaya Ji’.
The decision acknowledges the district’s deep spiritual and historical significance, being closely associated with Lord Buddha and Lord Vishnu.
The move is seen as a step towards preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of the region.
Dearness allowance hike for government employees and pensioners:
In a major relief to government employees and pensioners, the Bihar cabinet has approved an increase in dearness allowance (DA).
The revised rates will be effective from January 1, 2025, and are expected to benefit over five lakh employees and pensioners across the state.
