Ashok Choudhary criticized Tejashwi Yadav for misleading candidates over normalization in the 70th BPSC exam.

Patna December 6, 2024: Ashok Choudhary, Rural Work Department Minister, dismissed the claims of Tejashwi Yadav about normalization being implemented by the BPSC.

The statement of Ashok Choudhary came after the ongoing controversy over alleged normalization policies in the 70th combined preliminary examination of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) scheduled to be held on December 13.

It has become politically charged, with protests of aspiring candidates escalating and leading to a lathi charge on candidates in Patna on Friday.

Ashok Choudhary criticized Tejashwi Yadav for spreading misinformation:

Ashok Choudhary criticized opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him and his advisors of spreading misinformation to provoke the protests.

“The normalization has not been implemented by the BPSC, so the candidates’ demand for its withdrawal is baseless. Tejashwi Yadav’s advisor and the opposition leaders themselves are responsible for propagating false information to incite protests. It is a mistake made by the advisor of Tejashwi Yadav analyses it,” Choudhary said.

Ashok Chaudhary labelled the protests as politically motivated, suggesting that the unrest was engineered by the opposition rather than being a result of genuine concerns.

Ashok Choudhary political allegations:

The controversy has taken on political overtones, with accusations and counter-accusations between the ruling government and the opposition. Ashok Chaudhary hinted at potential punitive measures against those allegedly inciting the protests.

The candidates claim that the normalization of exam scores has led to unfair practices in recruitment, but government officials are refuting the allegations and blaming opposition leaders for misleading the protesters.

Candidates allege that normalization used to balance variations in difficulty levels across different exam sessions has been implemented unfairly, affecting their scores and chance of selection.

Protests and Police Action:

The protests intensified outside the BPSC office on Friday, culminating in a lathi charge by the police, further fuelling public outrage and drawing attention to the candidates’ grievances.

The incident underscores tensions in Bihar’s recruitment processes and public administration. If left unresolved, it risks eroding trust in the system and further polarizing public opinion. It also reflects how contentious policies like normalization, widely used in competitive exams across India, can lead to unrest if not transparently implemented or explained.

Efforts to address candidates’ grievances, coupled with clear communication from BPSC, will be essential to de-escalate the situation and restore confidence in the recruitment process.

The preliminary examination for the 70th combined BPSC examination is scheduled on December 13, 2024, in a single shift across 925 centres across Bihar and around 4.80 lakh candidates are appearing in the examination.

The admit card was released on the BPSC website on Friday.
