Patna, May 9, 2025: In a major breakthrough, a team of the Jogbani police in Araria district on Thursday arrested a sharpshooter linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Araria Superintendent of Police Amit Ranjan said that the accused, identified as Krishna Kumar alias Jay Prakash, a resident of Bikaner, Rajasthan, had been living secretly in Viratnagar, Nepal, for several months.
Araria police arrested Krishna Kumar from an ATM kiosk in Jogbani:
“He came to Jogbani to withdraw cash from an ATM near the railway station, where our team arrested him,” SP Ranjan said.
Initially, he was apprehended in connection with an ATM fraud case, but during interrogation, it became clear that he was associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.”
According to the SP, Krishna Kumar, the son of Shanta Ram from the Jawahar Circle police station area in Bikaner, is wanted in an extortion case involving a hotel group in Rajasthan.
“He had demanded Rs 1 crore from a hotel owner. Though he was a minor at that time, he was arrested in 2023 and kept in a remand home, from where he later escaped,” the Araria SP said.
After fleeing Rajasthan, Krishna Kumar crossed into Nepal and was living in Viratnagar, maintaining contact with his gang members through internet VPNs.
Police said he received money from the gang through various payment apps and would frequently visit Jogbani, a border town, to withdraw cash.
Ranjan revealed that Krishna Kumar’s arrest came after a shopkeeper’s complaint led police to monitor local ATMs closely.
“He turned out to be a surprise catch. During questioning, he admitted his ties to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang,” the SP said.
Preliminary investigations also suggest that Krishna Kumar was involved in multiple ATM frauds and cybercrime across the border districts of Bihar while staying in Nepal.
Police suspect that he may have international links, including possible connections to Dubai and Pakistan.

Following his arrest in Araria, Rajasthan police and Bihar STF were informed and are expected to interrogate him further.
The Lawrence Bishnoi has been at the centre of multiple high-profile cases, including the incident at Bollywood star Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai.
